Estuary Magazine Highlights Climate Adaptation Projects Around the Bay Area

A new special adaptation issue of San Francisco Estuary News, released today, explores climate adaptation projects in 12 counties around the Bay Area and the Delta. The issue highlights innovative resiliency projects happening around the region, including several that BARC has been deeply involved in, including State Route 37, the Dumbarton Bridge, Colma Creek in South San Francisco, and in North Richmond. Set against the backdrop of a global pandemic and a historic wave of protests against police brutality and structural racism, these projects underscore how important it is to keep equity centered in resilience work.

"As Congress and California’s state government consider stimulus packages intended to help our economy recover," writes BARC Executive Director Allison Brooks, "we have a responsibility to ensure that every precious dime spent is responsive to the current crisis and serves as an investment in a more resilient and equitable future for all."
