Many coastal properties may be flooded out by 2045, climate report warns

The Union of Concerned Scientists, a nonprofit science advocacy organization, has issued a report that indicates more than 20,000 homes are at risk from flooding in California. United States property valued at approximately $135 billion could be damaged or destroyed by flooding by 2045. The report also calculates how these losses would impact city and county governments due to the loss of property taxes (estimated losses at roughly $187 million for California alone).
